Marco Borriello could stay at Juventus beyond his six-month loan spell if Roma are willing to drop their demands, Goal.com has learned.
The 29-year-old joined Juve on loan until the end of the season during the January transfer window, and has since netted twice in 15 official appearances.
Juventus have the option to make Borriello's stay at the club permanent for a set fee of €8 million, but the Old Lady are unlikely to exercise this option due to the relatively high transfer fee.
Nevertheless, the striker could still stay with the Bianconeri as the club are hopeful that Roma will let go of Borriello on the cheap because of his high wages. The striker, who is surplus to requirements at Roma, earns €5.4m per year.
Therefore, the Giallorossi could opt to off-load Borriello for a fee well below the amount they had previously agreed on with Juventus.
The permanent arrival of Borriello could mean the end of either Alessandro Matri or Fabio Quagliarella at Juventus Stadium.
The Bianconeri have set their sights on signing a high-profile striker this summer, and they are ready to cash in on one of the aforementioned duo in order to help generate the necessary funds to sign the big name forward they are after.
Players such as Robin van Persie, Fernando Torres and Gonzalo Higuain have all attracted Juventus' interest.
